Rehabilitation of Road D1263 from Brits to Sonop | North West Province, South Africa

Client:
North West Department of Public Transport and Works

Description:
The project scope is for the upgrading of 15km of existing rural road. Works include the vertical and horizontal alignment of the road, provision of a new pavement structure inclusive of a pioneer layer and the upgrading of the entire stormwater drainage system, traffic signage and road markings. The pavement is surfaced with a modified asphalt surfacing to counteract the significant stresses inherent with large truck tyre pressures.

Pavement Design Review: Turnpike to Mazabuka to Monza Road | Zambia

Client:
BHM

Description:
The project review required an assessment of the proposed pavement structure and geometric cross section of the upgrade of the rural road to highway standards. The proposed design utilised a combination of re-use of the existing pavement structures, provision of new subbase and base course layers and the introduction of mechanical and chemical modification of available construction materials. The pavement is surfaced with an elastomer modified asphalt surfacing conducive to the environmental and loading conditions expected within the southern region of Zambia.

Construction Value:
USD 200 million

Polokwane Streets Rehabilitation | Limpopo Province, South Africa

Client:
Polokwane Local Municipality

Description:
Approximately 130 km of the urban road network of Polokwane is identified for rehabilitation and upgrade. The pavement failure modes vary between surface related and structural failure. The proposed design utilises mill and replace alternatives, Deep In-situ Recycling (DISR) and the complete upgrade through the provision of new subbase and base course layers. The selected pavements are surfaced with a polymer modified asphalt surfacing. The works also include the upgrade of the stormwater system, signage, road marking and ancillary services (telecoms and power) within the road reserve.
